In an interview with sports radio 610 WIP in Philly early this morning, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said "the point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, well there's a reaction that's in our experiences that won't go away and can sometimes come out in the wrong way. And that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it."

Conservatives have used the word "liberal" in such a context that it does not constitute what we really stand for. Neocons successfully controlled the words "pro-life" instead of the the opposite of pro-choice which is "anti-choice".

I think instead of Liberal we should be pushing the word "progressive" a bit more. The word had "progress" in it which is something that is universal.  

Does anyone have any suggestions for some good political books? I know we had been doing a book club on MYDD before so I was looking for a suggested list. I enjoyed "Crashing the Gate" of course..

Does anyone know what's going on with Patrick Murphy and Mike Fitzpatrick? I am reading that Fitz is refusing to concede. Any other info out there?

Listened to Hannity on the way home. He told audience that he's getting numbers in that are not looking good for Allen for VA. He is begging his listeners to get out there and vote.

Hannity also had Rove on who still says Republicans will keep both houses of Congress. Rove also said Exit Polls always favor Democrats as they did in 2000, 2002, and 2004 and to ignore them.

Why isn't this being discussed? How safe are we really when the Republicans just shot down a bill tightening up security on ports?
